Our Services

Our Services: Equine & Large Animal Removal, Burial & Transport

Compassionate care of your animals in life and death is important. For this reason, Osborne Homestead Services goes well beyond common industry practices to respectfully lay your animal to rest.

How We Remove Your Animal

We've developed a custom removal system that ensures efficient, safe, and respectful handling of your animals from anywhere — pastures, stalls, ravines, trailers, or difficult terrain. Your animal is never winched or dragged directly.

1

Placement on the Skid

A two-person team carefully places the deceased animal onto our specialized rescue skid, ensuring it is securely strapped in place with a harness system designed for this purpose.

2

Winch to the Skid, Not the Animal

The winch is attached to the skid — never directly to the animal. This is the critical difference between our method and common industry practice. No winching, no dragging, no trauma.

3

Ground-Level Loading & Transport

Our hydraulic drop-deck trailer lowers completely to the ground — no ramp, no incline. The skid is positioned on the level trailer bed, then hydraulically raised for secure transport to the location of your choice.

Transport & Final Resting Options

After your animal is safely secured on our trailer, we transport them to the final resting place of your choice. We offer four options to accommodate your wishes.

Simple Removal & Disposal

For owners who prefer a straightforward option, we handle removal and transport to a licensed waste management facility for proper, regulated disposal.

This is often chosen when burial on property isn't practical and cremation isn't the right fit. Performed under our state collection licenses in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Pet Cemetery

We will safely transport your animal to a licensed pet cemetery of your choosing, ensuring they are delivered with dignity for their final resting place.

Burial on Property

Our team can dig a professional-grade grave on your property (typically 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 7–9 feet deep), lower the animal into position, and carefully bury the remains.

Cremation Services

We facilitate cremation through Pet Cremation Services & Equine in Columbus, OH, and can hand-deliver the memorialized remains to you when complete.

Transparent Pricing

Most of our competitors won't quote a price until they have you on the phone. We think that's backwards. You deserve to know what to expect before you make the call.

Our prices are the same, day or night, weekday or weekend.

No Surcharges — Ever

We believe end-of-life care for your animal shouldn't come with a list of fine-print fees. You'll never pay extra for:

  • Nights or weekends — same price 2 AM Sunday as 2 PM Tuesday
  • Holidays — we work when you need us
  • Bad weather — rain, snow, and heat don't change our rates
  • Emergency response — urgent calls are standard, not premium

What's Included in Every Call

  • Two trained, TLAER-certified team members
  • Our specialized rescue skid and harness system
  • Our hydraulic drop-deck trailer for ground-level loading — no ramp required
  • Full compliance with state licensing and disposal regulations
  • Documentation of proper disposal
  • Respectful, professional handling — every time

What Might Change the Final Price

Every situation is different. We'll always give you a firm quote before we arrive. Additional costs may apply only for:

  • Animals located somewhere other than an accessible area — ravines, tight spaces, difficult terrain
  • Complex stall removals — thanks to our skid system, stall removals are usually quick and rarely require disassembling the stall. Additional fees only apply in unusual situations where access is severely limited.
  • Distance beyond our standard service area
  • Burial complications like heavy rock or unforeseen ground conditions
  • Multiple animals

We'll never surprise you with a charge we didn't discuss first.
