Supporting veterinarians—and the people who trust them—through life’s most difficult moments. From end-of-life care and complex rescues to necropsy support, Osborne Homestead Services manages the logistics, equipment, and physical demands of large animal cases with respect and compassion. Let us handle the technical side - so you can focus on the medicine - while your clients feel supported every step of the way.
The best outcomes happen when planning starts before we're needed. If you're heading to a call that may involve end-of-life decisions, a down or trapped animal, or a large animal emergency, a quick call from you gives your client time to think through their options and gives us time to coordinate logistics.
No fee, no obligation — just a conversation. Share our number with clients ahead of time whenever it makes sense.
Whether we're already on-site as the transport team or you're calling us in for specialized help, here's where we add value.
Animals in ravines, tight stalls, collapsed shelters, or difficult terrain. Our specialized rescue skid, harness system, and hydraulic drop-deck trailer let us handle situations that aren't workable with standard equipment.
Every member of our team is TLAER Operations Level certified — the same training used by large animal emergency response professionals nationwide.
Most veterinarians have assistants for the euthanasia process itself. When we are on-site, we are happy to help with positioning, restraint, or any other assistance that keeps your team safe — especially with difficult or dangerous patients, or in spaces where standard handling isn't practical.
When an insurance claim or diagnostic question requires an onsite necropsy, most barns and pastures aren't set up for it. We provide:

We'll transport to any facility you choose. Our team handles the logistics while you handle the case.
Extra hands on a difficult barn call. Backup when your usual resources aren't available. After-hours coordination. If you need professional, trained support with a large animal situation, we're here — 24/7, no surcharges for nights, weekends, or holidays.
For insured animals, proper documentation of the scene, timing, and handling can make the difference in a successful claim. We can provide timestamped documentation of arrival, condition, and final disposition, and coordinate with your necropsy findings to support a clean claim process.

Every case is different. Here's how our partnership typically works:
The most common scenario. A client calls us for end-of-life transport and you're on-site for the euthanasia or diagnostic work. We handle all the physical and logistical tasks — positioning, restraint, lift assists, necropsy support, cleanup. There's no additional charge to you for working alongside our team. It's simply part of being there.
When you know ahead of time that a case may involve end-of-life care, a complex extraction, or a necropsy, call us before heading out. We'll coordinate directly with you or with the client, line up arrival timing, and arrive prepared.
If you need our services independent of a client — necropsy transport for one of your cases, emergency backup, or specialty assistance — we can bill your practice directly. Professional courtesy rates are available for established veterinary partners.
Base pricing covers calls within approximately 45 minutes of our West Chester, OH base — serving Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. Beyond that range, a travel fee applies. We'll travel further for urgent needs.
Typical response is under two hours in our standard service area. Call us as early in the process as possible for best coordination.
In most cases, the client pays standard service fees and assistance to the vet is included at no additional charge. When services are engaged directly by your practice, we invoice you. Courtesy rates are available for established veterinary partners.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No surcharges for nights, weekends, holidays, or bad weather.
Whether you're planning a case, need backup for a difficult situation, or want to build an ongoing relationship, we're ready when you are.
